Canada Day Songs

Hey blog world! Happy Canada day! Since it’s Canada day today I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite songs by Canadian artists!

“Even Seagulls Dream” by Spirit of Newfoundland Spirit of Newfoundland as I’ve said before is a dinner theatre company from right here in Newfoundland! This is the title track off their debut album “Even Seagulls Dream” (which by the way is availlable at the Masonic Temple and at (along with their Christmas album “I’ll Be There For Christmas”.)) Peter Halley Peter Halley has lead vocals on this song and he does such a great job! The song is absolutely beautiful!

“My Heart Has A History” by Paul Brandt This deep voiced cowboy is from Alberta. This is my favorite song he sings! The video is confusing but I love the song!

“Don’t Be Stupid” by Shania Twain Shania is from Ontario. “Don’t Be Stupid” is such an awesome song! I love dancing to it!

“Perfect” by Hedley Hedley originated in B.C. I think this is probably their most beautiful song! I love Jacobs piano playing in it.

“Drinkin’ Thinkin'” by George Canyon George is from Nova Scotia. He gets big Canadian bonus points for including a Canadian icon in this music video. Bubbles from “Trailler Park Boys” Bubbles!

“Snowbird” by Anne Murray Anne is also from Nova Scotia. Dad’s a really big fan of hers. He used to sing this song to me all the time when I was little! I loved it!

“If I Had A Million Dollars” by the Barenaked Ladies This band is from Ontario. They’re awesome! I love all their songs! “If I Had A Million Dollars” is definately my favorite! My favorite part is definately “If I had a million dollars I would buy you some art, a Picasso or a Garfunkel”!

“No Fear” by Terri Clark Terri is from Montreal. She came to Newfoundland last year and I really wanted to see her but I missed out. Oh well! I love this song and this music video! Especially because it has Special Olympics athletes!

“Postcard From Pasadena” by Gord Bamford Gord is from Alberta. I’ve loved his music since I was little! “Postcard From Pasadena” was the very first Gord Bamford song I’d ever heard and I’ve loved it ever since!

“Beauty And The Beast” by Celine Dion Celine is from Quebec. She sings songs both in English and French. This is my favorite English song she sings (right next to “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic” which is also really good).

What’s your favorite Canadian band or singer and what’s your favorite song they sing? Tell me in the comments!
