Hey blog world! I recently got a new follower and when I checked out her blog I noticed hse had published her life list. You can check it out here http://sarahonthego.com/1001-list/! I noticed that #37 on her life list was to make a list of her 50 favorite songs. I thought that just for fun I too would do that! Here goes!
#50 “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” by Alan Jackson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCPpOba2O4g. This is a song about Alan starting off his career by playing in bars then finally making it up to Nashville! That’s what I want to do when I grow up. Well actually I’m not too sure about the whole playing in bars thing because I’m too afraid I may get hit with a Bud Light bottle! I really wanna be a country singer when I grow up so hopefully one day I’ll make it big in Nashville and people all over will listen to my music!
#49 “Jack and Dianne” by John Mellencamp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h04CH9YZcpI. This was the song that got me hooked onto John Mellencamp! It’s so awesome! When I youtubed the video so I could post it up for you all to watch I realized that I myself have never seen it so I took a look. I thought it was great! The one part I found unnessary was everytime they’d have the hands in the black background clapping! There was really no need for that!
#48 “Who Says” by Selena Gomez & The Scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzE1mX4Px0I. This is actually the ONLY Selena Gomez song that I like. I think it’s got a great message and is great for dancing. The only flaw to this song is that it’s super easy to get stuck in your head!
#47 “Little Green Apples” by Roger Miller http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8hVnKrLuyw. This is one of his slower tunes and I think it’s really pretty! I don’t really understand what this song is about but I like it anyways!
#46 “I Got A Name” by Jim Croce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcqauC49Xmc. I have to give a big thank you to google because I had no clue what it was called until I googled some of the lyrics earlier today! I’m so glad I finally figured out what it was called! Also I gotta thank my Dad as well because he’s the one who introduced me to Jim and his music!
#45 “Mrs Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter” by Hermans Hermits http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv8k0VI9tBc. This is a song about a guy who just broke up with a girl and is now visiting her Mother. I’m not sure why. I love the sound of the guitar in this song! Also Hermans singing is really good as well!
#44 “Believe” by Cher http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Uu3kCEEc98. I heard this song for the first time on a very ancient TV show called “Your Big Break” where people who sound a lot like famous singers come out on stage in makeup, wigs and costumes and sing their hearts out! When I heard the song it was pretty much love at first note! I can’t remember many of the moves but I remember having a cassette tape with this song on it and one day I brought it into daycamp with me and I choreographed my own dance to it! A group of other girls liked it so much that they started dancing with me!
#43 “Hot Hot Hot” by Buster Poindexter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrhf_zgtmAg. He’s not the original artist but I still love Busters version of this song! The music video is a little strange but I think that it’s really awesome!
#42 “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLPiYZrwAzU. Mom and I are big Neil Diamond fans and this is one of our favorite songs by him! I think it’s great that we share a favorite artist because listening to his music can bring us closer together!
#41 “Mes Oreilles” by Amylie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHoRC4ocZQA. In grade 8 my French class did a unit on music and our final project for the unit was to pick a song from a list of songs that Madame had for us (or we could pick our own song in French but we had to clear it with Madame first) and this song was on her list! I listened to this song and I really liked it (even though sometimes I couldn’t understand what she was saying)
#40 “The Chair” by George Strait http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Nh-NsqBsGE. This is a song about George trying to pick up a girl at a bar. It’s a great slow dance song! Also I am currently trying to learn it on piano. I have the right hand down but I need a load more practice with the left!
#39 “Play Something Country” by Brooks & Dunn http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQML3jIC_9I. This is exactly what I tell the DJ whenever I go to a dance! I love country music just as much as the girl in this song! I think we’d get along great!
#38 “Welcome Back” by John B. Sebastian http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVS3WNt7yRU. This was the theme song to the TV show “Welcome Back Kotter”! It’s an oldie but definately a goodie! Even my Neice loves this song! We always sing along to it together! I’m not sure who her favorite character is (I actually don’t think I’ve asked her) but my favorite character from this show is Horshack .
#37 “The Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjPau5QYtYs. I’m not entirely sure of the meaning of this song but it’s really catchy! I also thought it was really cool that they used it in an episode of “Family Guy” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgcvnFkscfc
#36 “Beat It” by Michael Jackson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRdxUFDoQe0. This is a great MJ song! I love the guitar part at the beginning! It’s awesome! I also love MJ’s dancing in the video!
#35 “Yoda” by Weird Al Yankovic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMpDHEVaI1k. I love “Lola” by the Kinks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVXmMMSo47s but I like Weird Al’s parody version “Yoda” a lot better!
#34 “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUSzL2leaFM. This is such a pretty song! I think it’s definately one of Erics best!
#33 “Unwritten” by Natasha Beddingfield http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFFBSSntZgs. The first time I heard this song was in a Pantene commercial! I really liked it. Years later in grade 8 when my schools choir conducter suggested we learn this song and sing it in our upcoming concert I was so thrilled! We all did a super great job!
#32 “Mean” by Taylor Swift http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYa1eI1hpDE. This is another song that myself and my Neice both really enjoy listening to together! She only knows the chorus but I still think it’s adorable when she sings along with it! It’s also very easy to get stuck in your head! I remember I once had this song stuck in my head for an entire WEEK! Also one day when I get the courage there’s a certain person (who I’ll keep annonymous) that I really wanna say the chorus to!
#31 “The Painter” by Chris De Burgh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azLxJiYpsT0. This is the story of a man who’s wife begged him to bring in a painter to get her portrait painted. Bad idea! You see the wife begins cheating on him with the painter and it’s all downhill from there. It’s not the cheeriest of songs (and Chris’s evil laugh at the end may haunt your dreams) but it’s still really awesome!
#30 “Baby Girl” by Sugarland http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y75lVEv7Tqw. This is one of Sugarland’s older video’s because it was made way back when the band was a trio. It’s about a girl who starts off by playing in bars and mailing her parents letters asking for money then later on she finally makes it big, stays at the Ritz hotel and mails her parents letters saying that she’ll send them money! It’s got a great message as well. Dreams come true!
#29 “Standing Outside The Fire” by Garth Brooks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8x5T7bmXFmQ&feature=related. First of all pardon the subtitles. It was the only version of the music video I could find! Anyways even though I’m not entirely sure of the meaning of this song I love it! Especially the video! I love that there’s a special kid in it! Those are my favorite people ever!
#28 “Betty’s Buns” by George Canyon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fl13kmZ7-vI. This is a good song with a great beat and a hillarious video! The surprise ending is my favorite part!
#27 “Price Tag” by Jessie J FT BoB http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMxX-QOV9tI. The video was a little confusing at first but now that I kind of understand it I think it’s great! The song is too although I don’t really like the rap part in the middle.
#26 “I Don’t Even Know Your Name” by Alan Jackson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aNjYlgwBN0. This is a hillarious reminder to be careful what you do when your drunk. It’s about a guy who’s at a diner and he eyes this beautiful waitress and flags her down for coffee but for some reason orders straight tequilla instead. I don’t wanna spoil the hillarious surprise so I’ll let you watch the music video and figure out what happens next.
#25 “Bud The Spud” by Stompin Tom Connors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNEg65rlnu4. This is a song about a guy named Bud who drives a truck filled with PEI potatoes. I wonder what they taste like? Anyway I have the entire chorus memorized and I love singing along when I hear it on the radio!
#24 “Boys In The Bright White Sports Car” by Trooper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCVbyY2ZTjA. This is about 2 guys name Stan and Jerry (I think it would have been funnier if it were Ben instead of Stan LOL!) They have stolen a bright white sports car. We never find out weather or not the cops catch them or not though.
#23 “Truck Got Stuck” by Corb Lund http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDY6bWT5oTM. It says in the beginning of the video that it’s a true story. I wonder if he’s telling the truth or he’s just saying it to make the story sound cooler? It’s about a bunch of trucks getting stuck in the mud and having grave difficulty getting out! I laugh every time I hear it! My favorite part is definately the chorus!
#22 “Video Killed The Radio Star” by the Buggles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwuy4hHO3YQ. We used to have this kids gym here in Newfoundland called Bulldog Interactive Fitness for Youth . It was such an awesome place! One of the things they had there were Dance Dance Revolution machines! On one particular machine they had this song. At first I couldn’t even get past it on easy! After some practice I got better and better and along the way learned to love this song!
#21 “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJO3ROT-A4E. Great message! My school even used this song in a PSA once! I forget what it was for though LOL! Also seeing this video really makes me wanna hit the beach! The one their at looks absolutely beautiful and really makes me wanna go to one!
#20 “Happy Boys and Girls” by Aqua http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBYD9_8NeZc. This song makes me happy! It’s so much fun! Very dancy too!
#19 “Ruby Tuesday” by the Rolling Stones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DVCgKsqn30. This is another great little slow dance song. I’m not sure what it’s about but I really like it! The chorus is my favorite part!
#18 “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes” by George Jones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi3GgoLtlWk. This is a great song about George wondering who’s gonna fill the shoes of Marty Robbins, Elvis, Johnny Cash and all the other country artists from back in the day. I wonder the exact same thing sometimes. I really like the music video for this song as well. All the memorabillia that the old guy has is really neat! I especially love his guitar!
# 17 “Coat Of Many Colors” by Dolly Parton http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1zJzr-kWsI. I think this song has a great message “One is only poor only if they choose to be”! I also love the guitar playing in this song. I got to perform this last year at my music recital. I had a great time and everyone really enjoyed it!
#16 “No More Mr Nice Guy” by Alice Cooper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0YrXjeRSoE. This isn’t really the nicest of songs but it’s catchy! I remember back when I was probably about 5 or 6 Dad would sing this to me before I went to bed! I’ll definately never forget that!
#15 “Country Roads” by John Denver http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oN86d0CdgHQ. This was another one of Dad’s bedtime songs. I loved it when I was little! I remember being 5 years old in the car with my Dad and he’d play this for me on his John Denver cassette tape and I had perfect timing and knew all the lyrics! I still do!
#14 “She Thinks My Tractors Sexy” by Kenny Chesney http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWu4aynBK7E. It’s a total redneck song and I love it! I can’t help but laugh everytime Kenny says “She Thinks My Tractors Sexy”!
#13 “Ebay” by Weird Al Yankovic http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=YKtlK7sn0JQ&feature=endscreen. This is his parody of “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fndeDfaWCg. I was never a fan of the Backstreet Boys so I much prefer Al’s version to theirs. It’s about a guy who is addicted to eBay. Some of the stuff he bids on is hillarious! A “Dukes Of Hazard” ashtray, a Smurf TV tray, an ALF alarm clock, William Shatners old tupee and even a kleenex used by Dr Dre !
#12 “Thank God and Greyhound” by Roy Clark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx8x3LCnYZw. I think this song is super funny! It’s about a man who’s wife leaves him and he couldn’t be happier! It got a huge laugh from my grade 7 class when we had a poetry reading in English!
#11 “Goodbye Earl” by the Dixie Chicks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw7gNf_9njs. This song and video are both super funny. Myself and my friend even turned this into a skit and performed it at our summer camp talent show. It went really well!
#10 “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9AbeALNVkk. This is one of the most awesome songs ever! It even helped me out with my science project. We were doing a unit on the human body and one of our projects was to do a physical activity for a certain amount of time and check our pulse before and after we did it and mark it down. I chose to dance. I picked out several songs to dance to and this was one of them! I jumped and fist bumped the air, spun around and went totally crazy all in the name of science! It was epic! Another epic thing about this song is that it’s the theme song to one of my favorite TV shows “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3ElVrQPiks.
#9 “Old Dogs Children & Watermelon Wine” by Tom T Hall http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wm36X3ZapLg. This is such a sweet song! I have every word memorized and love singing along with it!
#8 “Chicken and Biscuits” by Colt Ford FT Gord Bamford http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF108IhXi_A. This is about Colt’s love for a girl who likes hunting, can hold her own in the kitchen, sings in the church choir, isn’t scared to fight and loves going fishing. The awesomest thing about this song is that it’s got Gord Bamford! He’s one of my favorite country singers ever!
#7 “Postcard From Pasadena” by Gord Bamford http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFU9QC_Ex-4. This was the very first Gord Bamford song that I ever heard. In fact I didn’t even know it was him at the time! I can’t remember when I found out that it was but I was happy to finally learn who sang it! It’s about a guy who once had a girlfriend but she got stolen away from him and one day he received a postcard from pasadena from her and he now keeps it on his fridge to remind him that he doesn’t need her anymore! Take that cheater LOL!
#6 “Edge Of Glory” by Lady Gaga http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeWBS0JBNzQ. I can’t hit most of the notes when I try singing along on karaoke but I don’t mind! I have fun singing this song anyways! Dad does too. He recently became a little monster (that’s what Lady Gaga calls her fans) and we now have another artist to add to our list of favorite ones we have in common!
#5 “Tribute” by Tenacious D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lK4cX5xGiQ. I wanna say a big thank you to my classmate (you know who you are) who introduced me to this song in grade 8! I loved it so much I added it to my iPod the following day! It’s a tribute to the greatest song in the world and I love it! Although it does have some minor coarse language it’s still a really awesome song!
#4 “Patricia The Stripper” by Chris De Burgh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs970lwHn2E. It’s such a funny and totally awesome song! It’s about a stripper who gets arrested and goes before the judge who turns out to be a fan who lets her go because she was in her “Working clothes”! Chris sang this song when he came here in May for his concert at the Mile One center and I sang along and danced in my seat! It was so much fun!
#3 “Me Muero Por Ti” by Mauricio Herrera http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEW72_hN-Z8. I haven’t a single clue what he is saying because I know seldom few words in Spanish. The only ones I know I learned from being forced to watch “Dora The Explorer” and “Go Diego Go” with my Neice, but that’s beside the point. Anyway even though I don’t know what he’s saying this is one of the most beautiful songs ever!
#2 “Mr Mom” by Lonestar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PokBAxtvW4. This is a super funny song about a horrible stay at home Dad! I am still never going to let Dean Sams (the keyboardist in the band ) live down dissing the song! I will never forgot what he told me on the night of their concert! I’m still super mad at him! If you want to read more about this please check out the post “Celebrity Autographs”.
#1 “Lady In Red” by Chris De Burgh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFcuN2zI3u0. To me this is his most magical song! On the night in May when he played at the Mile 1 Center he sang this song and during it he went out into the audience and hugged, shook hands with and danced with the audience! I knew I wanted to be one of those lucky people. Once I got permission from Dad I raced down to where Chris was and pretty much followed him until he finally noticed me, smiled at me and then gave me a hug! I will never forget that moment! In fact whenever I hear this song I think of it!
There you have it blog world! It took me almost all day to write but I finally finished my list of my top 50 favorite songs! What are some of your favorites? Tell me in the comments!
