Hey blog world! I LOVE puppets! I think they’re so cool! There are a lot of very very famous ones out there! Today I’m gonna blog about some of my favorite puppets from TV, movies etc!

#5 Julie Woo (from “The Puzzle Place”) . Julie is a chinese american girl from San Francisco who hangs out at the Puzzle Place. She’s very pretty (in fact she was Skye ‘s love interest), tries too hard sometimes and is very kind! She seems like she’d make a terriffic friend if she was real!

#4 Kermit the Frog . He’s my absolute favorite Muppet! I loved watching his newscasts on Sesame Street http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWE3uF9u9-g and I loved him even more on “The Muppet Show”! I also loved his singing! “The Rainbow Connection” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSFLZ-MzIhM is one of my favorite songs! My favorite Kermit moment was definately his date with Gilbert Gottfried on “Muppets Tonight” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSorefCdmQ0!

#3 Melvin the Superhero Guy . This is one of Jeff Dunham’s puppets. The only TV special Melvin appeared in was “Spark Of Insanity” but I think Jeff should have totally brought him back for “Controlled Chaos”! As you can tell by the name Melvin is a superhero. He’s not the best one but at least he’s funny! He has the power to fly however far Jeff can throw him and also he has X ray vision which he loves! Here’s a video of Jeff Dunham’s performance with Melvin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nxuv-En5EU4!

#2 Abby Cadabby (from “Sesame Street”) . She’s the newest resident of Sesame Street and I loved her since her very 1st episode! She’s adorable, has a great sense of fashion (I know she always wears  the same dress but I think it’s super cute) and is super funny!

#1 Peanut . Peanut is another one of Jeff Dunham’s characters! He’s a woozle (Not the same species of Woozle in “Winnie The Pooh” though.) Peanut has appeared in each of Jeff’s TV specials (there were 4)! Here’s a clip of his performance with José in “Spark Of Insanity” (which by the way is my favorite Peanut performance of all) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfunsO6HOOI!

Who are your favorite puppets blog world? Tell me in the comments!

PBS kids past

Hey blog world! Yesterday PBS posted this on their facebook page http://www.pbs.org/special/generation-pbs-kids-you/. It’s a quiz to find out which generation of PBS kids you are. I took the quiz and aparently I’m “Generation Teletubby” because I remember meeting Mrs Noodle and I love shows like “The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That”, “Maya and Miguel” and “The Magic School Bus”! This quiz really got me thinking about the PBS station and all the amazing shows they had on the PBS kids block! They sure had a load of gems back in the day! Here are some of my favorite classic PBS Kids shows!

“Bill Nye The Science Guy” (1993-1998) .This show taught Science in a super fun way! Bill showed us cool experiments (some of which we could try at home), made us laugh by doing lots of scientific comedy sketches and even parodied songs! My favorite song from this show was definately “AC/DC Charge” from the episode on Electrical Currents http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXZ2fi25O7Q!

“The Adventures Of Dudley The Dragon” (1993-1999) . I loved watching this when I was little! I have all the words to the theme song memorized! It’s a series about a big green Dragon named Dudley and all his adventures with his animal and human friends in the forest! My 2 favorite characters were Dudley and Mr Crabby Tree!

“Theodore Tugboat” (1993-2001) . This show was about a little tugboat named Theodore and his adventures with his friends in the Big Harbour (which by the way is somewhere in Nova Scotia!) This show was mostly tugboats BUT there was 1 human on the show the Harbour Master! He was played by Denny Doherty who (using the way Sharon from Sharon Lois and Bram once described him) people about this tall  (or possibly even taller than The Hacker) might recognise as a former band member of one of my favorite bands “The Mamas and the Papas”!

“Jay Jay the Jet Plane” (1998-2002) . This was a show all about a bunch of talking airplanes, a helicopter and several ground vehicles that all live in Terrytown. There are not very many but there are a few humans on this show as well. My favorite human is definatly Brenda Blue. She runs the Terrytown Airport where Jay Jay and all his other airborn friends live! My favorite airplanes were Jay Jay and Tracy !

“The Puzzle Place” . The puzzle place is about a group of kids (as you can see in the picture) who go to this awesome hangout (which reminds me of the Kidclub that I used to go to (minus all the puzzle piece decorations)) called the Puzzle Place. As you can guess by the title the puzzle place uses puzzle pieces for decorations all over the place! My favorite character is Jody (the one in the purple beret)!

I have 2 questions to ask before I leave blog world! Firstly if you took the quiz post what generation you are down in the comments! Secondly what’s your favorite classic PBS kids program?

Making movies

Hey blog world! How many of you have ever made your own movie before? I have and as hard as it was it was super duper fun (and also super duper funny)! My class had read the book “The Pearl” in English class and our teacher had given us a video assignment. She said to create a talk show where you interview characters from the book! I thought it was a great idea and couldn’t wait to get started! I decided to do my own version of “The Doctors” since one of the options was to interview Juana and the Doctor about what happened to her son Coyotito in the 1st chapter and why the Doctor wouldn’t treat him. I wrote up my script and got my costumes and I was ready to begin! I called over my boyfriend to be my camera man because I haven’t a single clue how to use a camcorder! We had so much fun filming together! We had quite the extensive blooper reel though! I’m usually great with remembering lines but that particular day I wasn’t! I kept flubbing my lines, getting tongue tied and even forgetting a few times! One of the lines that I had was

“Well Coyotito was in his little box and there was a scorpion on the rope that was attached to the box. My husband Kino tried to grab the scorpion but that didn’t work and I tried using ancient magic to get rid of the scorpion but that didn’t work either. Little Coyotito who had no idea how dangerous the scorpion was shook the rope and the scorpion fell and stung him.”

Before each take I looked at my line and then when rolling said the line without looking at the sheet. Unfortunately it took several takes to get this line right because I kept forgetting it! I didn’t count but as an estimate I think I probably did this about 5 times before finally getting it right (I was 4 away from beating Jr Samples record LOL (he flubbed a line on “Hee Haw” 8 times in a row))! I can’t quite remember what line it was but there was 1 particular line that when the camera was rolling I couldn’t remember so for some reason (I can’t remember why) I broke out into “The Jet Song” from “West Side Story” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exGJsv6ZNlo! I also ran into a lot of technical difficulties as well! As part of the assignment we had to do a commercial so I chose to do a soundtrack for “The Pearl”. That didn’t go as well as I’d expected. I had chosen several different songs to use on the CD and there were 2 that gave me some trouble. 1 was “Run Runaway” by “Great Big Sea” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UMV36zYs58&ob=av2e. The reason I was having difficulty with this was that for some reason it froze. The camera rolled I hit the play button on youtube (that’s where I was getting the music from) and nothing happened. It was just a frozen image of Great Big Sea playing their instruments! Thankfully after some effort we got it working again! Also I ran into an error with “Stand By Your Man” by Tammy Wynette http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwBirf4BWew. I can’t remember weather it was my speakers or the volume on youtube but one of them wasn’t turned on and I didn’t know that. We rolled the cameras and I hit play and Tammy was just moving her lips! No words came out! I laughed said “Let’s try it with sound this time” and then we finally got it right! My boyfriend was not only the cameraman for my film but also he provided the sound effects. At the end of the video when Piers (that’s what I named the Doctor) said why he wouldn’t treat Coyotito Kyle made a police siren noise to signify that the police were after Piers because of what he had just said! He was amazing! It sounded exactly like a real police siren! My entire class loved the movie and laughed really hard while watching it! I had the time of my life making it and can’t wait to make another! Have you ever made a movie blog world? Tell me about it in the comments!

Sketch Comedy

Hey blog world! One of my favorite types of TV shows are Sketch Comedies. A Sketch Comedy is a show where a group of actors and/or actresses do funny skits (sometimes in front of a live studio audience). Here are a few of my favorite sketch comedy TV shows.

“Mad TV” . This show has nothing to do with the “Mad” magazine. This was an American sketch comedy series (I’m saying was because after 14 seasons it got cancelled in 2008.) My boyfriend and I LOVED watching this show on the Comedy Network! Some of my favorite members of the “Mad TV” sketch comedy team were Michael McDonald  (even though we share the same last name we’re not related), Jordan Peele , Keegan Michael Key  and Stephnie Weir! This show (like most sketch comedies) did loads of parodies of shows and movies like “House”, “The Sound Of Music” and even “The Wiggles” (which they renamed “The Ringarounds” in that particular sketch)! Also like most sketch comedies “Mad TV” had lots of recurring sketches. 2 of my favorites were “Dot”, a sketch where Stephnie played a little girl named Dot   who is a 2 time second grader, is obsessed with gloves and is very very hyper. Here’s one of my favorite Dot sketches! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-c73MOZMQ4! This is one of the seldom few Dot sketches which features her older (and much smarter) sister named Karen who unfortunately for poor Dot her father loves WAY more! Another of my favorite “Mad TV” sketches is “Coach Hines” . As you can tell by the picture Coach Hines was played by Keegan Michael Key. Coach Hines is pretty much every student’s nightmare. If a student misbehaved or got on his nerves he’d instantly start threatning that student (and also acting out these threats). Here’s a video of my favorite coach Hines sketch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8Blc6Kqs7g

“Royal Canadian Air Farce” . This is a sketch comedy show from right here in Canada! Matter of fact the Air Farce wasn’t even a sketch comedy show to start with! It began as a theater show called “The Jest Society”, then in 1973 it became a radio show on CBC radio and the name changed from “The Jest Society” to “The Royal Canadian Air Farce”. Later in 1992 they did a televised New Years special and it was such a success that the following year it became a weekly half hour TV show! My favorite cast members from this show are Roger Abbot (who unfortunately is passed on 😦 ), Alan Park , Luba Goy  and Jessica Holmes  (who fans of the TV show “Debrah” will recognise as Preston’s mother!) One of my favorite recurring sketches on “Air Farce” is “Chicken Cannon” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdeg9izJE3I, a sketch where Don Furgoson (one of the other members of the “Air Farce”) played Colonel Stacey (according to him his friends all called him Teressa) and every week “Teressa” and one other member of the Farce would fire off an array of messy and sometimes very very disgusting objects at targets for example Spongebob, George W Bush and Don Cherry. Also they did the Chicken Cannon almost every year for their New Years Eve special (In 2010 (I think) they did the F bomb instead. Same thing but a bomb instead of a cannon would be flung at the targets) and during the New Years Eve Chicken Cannon and F Bombs they’d always get the audience to choose the target of the year. My favorite was defiantely last years target of the year! Justin Bieber! I also love the “Ad Absurdum” sketches http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cxiu-_jGBW4! In this sketch Luba Goy would poke fun at several different commercials! I’m so sad they cancelled this show! It was one of the best!

“So Random” . This is another American sketch comedy program. It’s a spin off of “Sonny With A Chance”. All the “Randoms” are back (accept for Sonny (a.k.a Demi)) and Chad Dylan Cooper (a.k.a Sterling Knight) has joined the show! My favorite cast members from “So Random” are Zora (played by Allisyn Ashley Arm) , Tawni Hart (played by Tiffany Thornton)  and Nico (played by Brandon Mychal Smith) . In this show every episode they always had a special guest star (usually someone associated with Disney or Disney Channel) and also a musical guest! My favorite guest star was definately Mia Talerico from “Good Luck Charlie” ! 1 of my favorite recurring sketches from this show is “Rufus Kid With Excuses” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHzLNSj5CWI. A series of sketches about a kid named Rufus who can come up with an excuse for pretty much everything. My 2nd favorite recurring sketch is “The I’m Going To Marry Zach Feldman Show” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCHMtmpYpAo! A sketch where a creepy teenage girl hosts her own webshow all about how she’s going to marry the boy of her dreams named Zach Feldman!

Remembering Ken

Hey blog world! 1 year ago today I remember watching the TV listings station (that’s chanel 8 here in Newfoundland) and in the upper left hand corner they have news updates. One of which was that Ken Kostick passed away that day at age 57 due to pancreatitis. I was a HUGE fan of his and was very devistated! In case you don’t know who Ken is here’s a picture of him . He was a chef! Also he was the co host of 2 TV shows. 1 of which was “What’s For Dinner” which aired on CBC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9z8fhMCYE4. I can’t remember all too much about this show because I think the last time I saw it was when I was 8! All I do remember is that Ken and his co host Mary Jo  wore costumes sometimes. The other TV show that these 2 hosted together was “He Said She Said” and it aired on the W network and Viva http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUawtM5_hiA. In this show every episode there was a different star ingredient and Ken and Mary Jo would each make a differnet dish using said star ingrediant. Ken was super funny in both shows and all the food that he made looked so yummy! It sure is terrible that he’s gone. He is definately missed! R.I.P Ken!

Bucket list post 6

Hey blog world! Today I’m doing a 6th post about my possibly never ending bucket list! Enjoy!

#74 Be on “Don’t Forget The Lyrics”: . This is another one of my favorite game shows! I’m a huge music fan and know pretty much every song so I’m positive I’ll win the entire game!

#75 Attend YC: I’m hopefully gonna complete this one in October. YC stands for Youth Conference. I’ve never been to one before but man does it look like so much fun! I’ve never been there so I don’t know exactly what people do but I do know that 1 part of YC is a HUGE Christian rock concert! Here’s the promo for this years YC! The theme is Surrender. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCqnI3LxRFA&list=PL16FDD0898141CAE4&index=1&feature=plpp_video. Also if you wanna get more info on YC go to http://yc.extremedream.ca/!

#76 Post a video on Youtube: I have a youtube account and know how to use my camcorder to make video’s but unfortunately I haven’t the slightest idea as to how I upload a video onto Youtube! Once I figure it out I really wanna post a video and hopefully get plenty of views! I think it’d be a great way to get my career as a singer started. If it worked for he who shall not be named (I’m sure you know who I’m talking about) why can’t it work for me?

#77 Visit every Ripleys Odditorium: Ever heard of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not? It’s a series of books all about weird and wacky people, places and things! It’s got a TV show too (I think it airs on Space but I’m not sure) and also has several “Odditoriums”. an Odditorium is a Ripley’s museum filled with weirdness galore! I went to the one in New York City and it was so cool! I got to meet the cat man (a man who had his teeth replaces with fangs and had his face tattooed to look like a cat), I saw a picture of the real life popeye and there was even a picture of Barack Obama made entirely out of Gumballs! That was just in New York though! I’m not sure how many others there are but I really wanna visit all of them and see all their museums!

#78 Surf: I’ve seen people do this on TV and man does it look cool! It does look hard but I’m sure I’ll be able to learn!

#79 Take Guitar lessons: I really love the guitar! It’s such a cool instrument! My music teacher taught my class how to play a few songs on it in grade 8 and I had so much fun (even though I wasn’t that great)! One day I’d like to take lessons so I can learn to play it better!

#80 Make something out of clay: When I was a kid I LOVED Play-doh ! I made stuff with it all the time! Now that I’m older I’ve outgrown play-doh and want to use actual clay  and an actual turntable  to make something! I think it’d be cool to get my hands messy throwing (that’s the pottery word for making) something, then letting it dry, harden and then paint it!

#82 Go to L.A: I’ve never been to L.A before but I’d love to go someday! It seems like such a fun place! If I did get the chance to go there some things I’d like to do are see a live taping of “The Doctors”, get pictures next to all the stars on the walk of fame and check out the Madame Tussauds museum!

#83 Go to Legoland: Legoland is very obviously a lego  brick theme park! There are locations in Billund (where the product originated), Germany, Florida, California and Malaysia! My friend had once been to the one in Billund and said it was really fun! It sure seems like it is! I really hope to get to go to the one in either Florida or California (because I can’t speak German, Deutsch or whatever language Malaysia speaks)!

That’s it for now blog world! Be sure to keep reading because I can certainly guarantee that this wasn’t the last post about my bucket list!

6 year old in handcuffs

Hey blog world! Yesterday I was watching “Piers Morgan Tonight” and his Only In American segment was one of the most shocking things I’d ever heard! Here it is http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2012/04/18/piers-morgan-only-in-america-six-year-old-put-in-handcuffs.cnn! A 6 year old girl named Alisha and let me enthasize this one more time A 6 YEAR OLD was in Kindergarten 1 day and as you guys probably know 6 year old kids tend to throw tantrums from time to time and boy oh boy did she ever! I don’t know what caused this tantrum but Alisha threw books and toys, knocked stuff off walls and even knocked over a shelf! The only way her not so bright teachers could think of to deal with her was to call the police! They came and handcuffed the poor thing, took her to the police station and put her in a holding cell! Blog world this is totally not right! Sure she could have possibly hurt someone but I definately think a visit to the principal would have sufficed! Not a visit to the police station in handcuffs! What do you think blog world? Should the teacher have called the police to handle Alisha’s tantrum? Why or why not? Tell me in the comments!
