Commercial awards

Hey blog world! I’ve done several awards post for movies and TV and such but I’ve never ever done an awards post for commercials so let’s get started!

Our 1st category is best PSA (that’s Public Service Announcement). The award goes to “Purse” from the Foundation for a Better Life! This PSA is totally awesome! It’s got black eyed peas music, suspense and doughnuts! I’ve seen countless amounts of PSA’s from the Foundation for a Better Life but this one is clearly their best which is exactly why this PSA has won the award!

Our next category is best voice actor in a commercial. That award goes to Gilbert Gottfried for his role as the AFLAC Duck  . I love the AFLAC commercials. Not just because they’re funny. I love them also because my favorite actor is (well was) the voice of their duck mascot (why he isn’t anymore is too long of a story.) The AFLAC people sure made a terriffic choice when they chose Gilbert for their mascot! Here’s a video of one of my favorite AFLAC commercials!

Our next category is best dancing in a commercial. That award goes to the Bud Light commercial “Mr Really Really Really Bad Dancer”. Sure the title says he’s horrible but that’s exactly why he gets this award! Mr really really really bad dancer is so funny!

Our next category is best food commercial. That award goes to the Skittles commercial “Midas Touch” This commercial is so funny! I’ve seen it so many times that I’ve got it memorized! My favorite part is the part when Steve gets angry bangs his desk and it turns into skittles!

Our next category is best beverage commercial. That award goes to Evian’s “Roller Skating Babies” This is one of the cutest ads I’ve ever seen! The music is super awesome too!

Our next category is best original song in a commercial. The award goes to AFLAC! I unfortunately forget the name of the commercial but I do know it’s super funny! The AFLAC Duck (and a bunch of other animals) do a rap!! It’s so cool! I didn’t know animals were such awesome rappers! I think Gilbert and the AFLAC duck (and all the other animals in the video) could have a career in rapping!

Our next category is best car commercial. The award goes to Corolla for their “Mambo #5” parody commercial. I love the song “Mambo #5” by Lou Begga It’s such a catchy and upbeat song! I was so happy when Corolla decided to parody it! They did such a teriffic job!

Our next category is best store commercial. That award goes to IKEA for “Start The Car!” I didn’t quite get it at 1st but now that I do understand it I love it! It’s such a funny commercial!

Our final category is best detergent commercial. That award goes to Tide To Go for their “Talking Stain” ad Interrupting is super rude but when a stain does it it’s super funny (as you can see in this ad)! Even though I have no clue what in the world the stain is saying I crack up laughing every time I see this commercial!

Congradulations to all the animals, people and companies that have won awards today!

Books I think should be movies

Hey blog world! Remember the post I made a while ago called “Book to movies”? Well there are some books out there that haven’t got movies but I think definatley should!

“Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing” by Judy Blume . This is a hillarious book about 4th grader Peter and his brother Fudge ( I don’t have a single clue why he’s named that. Judy doesn’t even mention it in her book.) I can’t remember much about this book but I do remember that at his friend Jimmy’s party Peter wins a turtle and names it Dribble and Fudge eats the poor thing alive! If this was turned into a movie I think Jake Short (the kid who plays Fletcher on “A.N.T Farm”)

should be Peter and the kid who played Manny in the “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid” movies  should be Fudge!

any of the “Junie B Jones” books by Barbara Park . Junie B’s books are super funny! I’d love to see her on the big screen! It doesn’t matter which of her books becomes a movie because they’re all so funny (although I would personally really enjoy seing either “Junie B Jones 1st Grader (At Last)” or “Junie B Jones Is A Party Animal” as a movie). If this were to become a movie I’m not sure who I think should play Junie, but for some reason whenever I read the books to myself I imagine her stuffed elephant Phillip Johnny Bob with a British accent so I think Piers Morgan  should play him.

“Captain Underpants” by Dav Pilkey . Sure this book is kinda gross and not exactly gramatically correct but at least I really enjoy reading it! I’d love to see the Captain on the big screen! It’d be even cooler if they added the “Wicked Wedgie Woman” in the movie even though she doesn’t battle with Captain Underpants until book 5. She’s my absolute favorite villain! If this were turned into a movie I think George (the African American one) should be played by either Kyle Massey  or the kid who played Stanley on “That’s So Raven”  and Harold (the white kid with blonde hair) should be played by either one of the Sprouse Twins . I’m not sure who Captain Underpants should be played by though.

“Meet Addy” by Connie Porter . “American Girl” is pretty much known for turning their dolls stories into movies so I sure hope they put Addy on the big screen! I haven’t read her book but I’ve heard about her story from playing her games and reading about her online. It’s 1864 and Addy and her Mama are trying to escape from slavery. As soon as I read the 1st Addy book I’d really love to see it in theaters! If this was made into a movie I’d like to see China Anne McClain  as Addy and Whoppi Goldberg  as Addy’s Mom.

Mascot Madness by Andy Griffiths . Before I start talking about why this book should be a movie let me just clear something up. If your like me and your thinking that this guy  is the one who wrote the book then your wrong. That’s Andy Griffith. He’s a famous actor (my favorite one to be exact) who not only stared in 2 TV shows (“Matlock” and “The Andy Griffith Show”) but also has starred in several movies (“A Face In The Crowd” and “No Time For Seargents” are my 2 favorites). THIS is Andy Grifiths the guy who wrote the book (and also several other novels for kids like the “Just” series (“Just Joking”, “Just Shocking” and “Just Disgusting” just to name a few LOL!) He’s also written “The Day My Butt Went Phycho”) ! Now that everyone’s confusion is cleared up let’s get back to the subject.  “Mascot Madness” is the 3rd book in the “Schooling Around” series. In this book Henry McThrottle and the other kids at Northwest Southeast Elementary compete in the Northwest Interschool Sports Event against Northwest West Academy. Unfortunately Henry’s teacher Mr Brainfright gets Mascot Madness (that’s when the person in the mascot suit believes they’re actually that character. Mr Brainfright was in a banana costume so he began believeing he was a banana.) Because of this they need to find a new mascot. I forget what else happens LOL! If this were made into a movie I think it’d be cool if Gilbert Gottfried  (he was Greyson in “Jack and the Beanstalk”, he played Mr Peabody in both “Problem Child” movies and also he’s the voice of the AFLAC Duck and also Digit from “Cyberchase”) played Mr Brainfright. I’m not quite sure who’d be good for playing Henry though

“Sideways Stories from Wayside School” by Louis Sachar . This book already has it’s own TV show so it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a movie! “Sideways Stories from Wayside School” is about Mrs Jewels class at Wayside School. It was supposed to be a school that was 1 story high with 30 classrooms but by accident it was built 30 stories high! The kids in this class have all sorts of adventures in school. My favorite characters are Mrs Jewels  and Todd . If this book were a movie I think Julie Andrews (she was Maria in “The Sound Of Music” and also she was Mary Poppins in “Mary Poppins”)  as Mrs Jewels and Daniel Cook (if he’s not a grown up already)  as Todd.

Those are all my favorite books that I think should be turned into movies! What are your favorite books that you think should be turned into movies blog world? Tell me in the comments!

American Idol

Hey blog world! I’m a very big fan of the TV show “American Idol”! Today I thought I’d blog about some of my favorite contestants from last season. (It’s the only one that I’ve seen all the way through! Also I haven’t picked any favorites from this season yet).

James Durbin . He’s one of my favorite contestants for 2 reasons. 1 he’s autistic just like me and 2 he’s an amazing singer! I really wanted him to win the competition! I was really sad when he was eliminated (he made it to the top 4 by the way). His best performance on the show was definately “Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey

Scotty McCreery . He was my 2nd favorite contestant from last season (my #1 favorite was James). He’s got an amazingly deep voice (watch out Johnny Cash) and he’s cute! He was even the winner last season! I’m so proud! His best performance on the show was “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)” by Alan Jackson I’m a server at my church and last year while I was at a retreat with the Reverand and other servers we were all in the chapel singing songs and one of those songs we sang was “This Is The Day”. After we sang it the original way “This is the day that the Lord has made we will rejoice and be glad in it” Reverand Trevors asked us what was something that made us happy? I put my hand up and said that I was happy that Scotty had won “American Idol” so we all sang the song again but differently this time. We sang “This is the day that the lord let Scotty win we will rejoice and be glad in it”! We had just “American Idol”ized a church hymn! It was so cool!

Lauren Alaina . She was the runner up last season. In my opinion she was also the prettiest female finalist (no offense Hailey Reinhart). Her voice was really pretty too! Her best performance was the one that brought her to the finale. “Maybe It Was Memphis” by Pam Tillis (which Carrie Underwood picked for her to sing)

There you have it blog world! My 3 favorite contestants from “American Idol” last season! Who were your favorites? Tell me in the comments!

Mayberry Memories

Hey blog world! Get ready for a blast from the past because today I’m gonna talk to you about one of my absolute favorite shows that was cancelled a long long time ago. It’s called “The Andy Griffith Show”. Here’s the theme song! This show was about Sherrif Andy Taylor (played by Andy Griffith)

and his life in Mayberry. Not only is he the town’s Sherrif but also he’s a widowed father. His wife died giving birth to his son Opie (played by Ron Howard) . Opie and Andy both live with Andy’s Aunt Bea  (played by Francis Bavier). She’s one of my favorite characters! Even though she makes HORRIBLE pickles (“Kerosene Cucumbers” as Andy calls them) she’s really funny and also a great pianist! My most favorite character of them all is deputy Barney Fife (played by Don Knotts). He’s the Deputy Sherrif and boy is he funny! He always gets too ovley excited and riled up over the smallest of things! I thought the look on his face was super hillarious when he found out that a goat had eaten dynamite in the episode “The Loaded Goat”. There are 2 other main characters in this show as well. The town drunk Otis Campbell (played by Hal Smith) . He’s a frequent inmate at the Mayberry jail. The reason why is because well obviously he’s the town drunk. Also Andy and Barney have given him the keys to one of the jail cells so he can arrest himself whenever he wants to. There’s also Gomer Pyle . He works at Wally’s filling station as a car mechanic. He also speaks in a really cool southern accent! Out of all of the episodes that I’ve seen I like “Aunt Bea’s Medicine Man” the best! Here’s the link to watch it!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! That’s all for now blog world! What’s your favorite episode of “The Andy Griffith Show”? Tell me in the comments!

Sam’s blog post

Hey blog world. While trying to come up with a topic for today’s blog post my neice Samantha said she wanted to write a blog. I thought that I’d let her make her very own post right here on Asbie Diaries! Here goes! Her post will be on one of her favorite shows “Bubble Guppies”!

“Bubble Guppies” is a show about a class of mermaids. One of the bubble guppies names is Oona and one of the boys names is Gill. One of them is Molly. Mr Grouper is their teacher and Bubble Puppy is the class puppy. The rest of the Bubble Guppies names are Goby, Deema and Nonny. Nonny wears goggles. Molly has pink hair. Oona has brown eyes just like me! Gill has a green tail. Goby has brown eyes too. Deema has orange earrings. Mr Grouper is a big orange fish and has shiny white teeth. Their classroom is brown. They do lots of things. For example one of the things they did was go to a puppy store and that’s where they bought Bubble Puppy. They also went to a pizza parlour and saw pizzas and at the end of that show they made picture pizzas that were actually pizzas that you can eat. The end but before I go here’s a surprise video of the Bubble Guppies!

The end!

So what do you think of my neices very 1st blog post blog world? Would you like to see her with her own blog someday? Tell me what you thought about her blog post in the comments!

Book to movies

Hey blog world! There are millions and millions of books out there and those that are lucky get turned into a movie! Today I’m gonna share with you my favorite books that have been transformed into movies (I’ll even include the traillers)!

“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Ronald Dahl I know that when it comes to book to movies you should probably read the book 1st but the 1st thing I did was see the movie. I gotta admit the movie is way better (but that’s just my opinion). It’s about a little poor boy named Charlie Bucket who one day finds a golden ticket inside of a Wonka chocolate bar. Because he has one of the 5 golden tickets he gets to tour Willy Wonka’s incredible candy factory! It’s full of incredible surprises! I loved every minute of this movie (and book)! My favorite part is definately when the Oompa Loompa’s sing to Mike Teevee.

“Horton Hears A Who” by Dr Seuss This was one of my favorite books as a little kid. I was so excited when I found out they were turning it into a movie! It has 2 of my favorite actors in it. Steve Carell (he was Evan in “Evan Almighty”) and Carol Burnette (she was Miss Hannigan in “Annie”). This book/movie is about an elephant named Horton who lives in the jungle of Nool and one day he hears a noise coming from a speck of dust and as it turns out that noise he heard was the town of Whoville! Now it’s Hortons job to protect them! I have 2 favorite quotes from this book to movie and they are “I meant what I said and I said what I meant an elephant’s faithful 100%” and “A person’s a person no matter how small”. My favorite part of this movie was when all the characters sang “Can’t Fight This Feeling” by REO Speedwagon

“The Cat In The Hat” by Dr Seuss This is yet another of my favorite Dr Seuss books. This is about very obviously a cat who wears a hat. He comes and visits brother and sister Sally and Conrad one boring rainy day and they have quite the adventure together! My favorite part is definately when they make cupcakes

“Diary Of A Wimpy Kid” by Jeff Kinney I still remember the day I bought this book at chapters. When I brought it home and started reading it I fell in love with it instantly! I was so excited the day I was at the movie theater looking at posters of upcoming movies and I saw a poster advertising this one! I knew that it would one day become a movie and I was so glad that it had finally happened! It’s about a wimpy kid named Greg Heffley and all his misadventures at home and at school. My favorite part of this movie was when Greg sang “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” by Bonny Tyler during the auditions for “The Wizard Of OZ” It’s so beautiful!

“Diary Of A Wimpy Kid 2 Rodrick Rules” by Jeff Kinney This is the sequel to “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid”. It’s even funnier than the 1st one! The plot of this movie is kinda hard to explain. My favorite part was definately when the Mom was daydreaming about what it’d be like if the Heffley’s formed a band

“A Smile As Big As The Moon” by Mike Kersjes  . I haven’t fully finished reading the book but it’s incredible and so is the movie! I strongly reccommend reading the book and watching the movie. As I’ve already told you in the blog post “A Smile As Big As The Moon” it’s the true story of how Mike Kersjes took his special education students to NASA’s space camp! The book and movie are both touching and funny. My favorite part in the movie is the scene in home ec where they have a huge pumpkin pie fight! Filling, flour and dough go everywhere! When I saw this part in the movie I couldn’t breathe because I was laughing so hard!

“How To Eat Fried Worms” by Thomas Rockwell I haven’t read (but plan on reading) this book but I can tell you that this movie is really funny! It’s about a boy named Billy (the one standing in the yellow background) who comes to a new school and instantly gets picked on by Joe Guire (the one standing in the purple background). Joe gets rid of whatever was in Billy’s thermos in the  1st place and puts worms inside. After teasing Billy because he supposedly eats worms Billy says that he eats them all the time and so Joe challenges Billy to eat 10 worms that very Saturday and of course Billy accepts. This movie is super funny! My favorite part (even though it is gross) is when the principal eats the worm omelete. By the way blog world I should probably mention that this movie is pretty gross so if you have a weak stomach close your eyes when he eats the worms. Also I strongly advise against watching this movie while your sick because it’s probably gonna make you sicker than you already are.

The final book to movie I’m gonna show you is “An American Girl Chrissa Stands Strong” which is based on the books “Chrissa” and “Chrissa Stands Strong” by Mary Casanova    . They air this movie every year on the TV channel “Family” during anti bullying week in November. I make sure to never miss it. It’s about a girl named Chrissa Maxwell who moves to Iowa with her Mom, Dad and Brother so they can live with Chrissa’s grandma and her llamas. When Chrissa arrives at school she immediatley starts being picked on by the mean bees Sonali, Tara and Jadyn. They steal her valentines, put up a poster of Chrissa all over the school with Chrissa’s head on a llama’s body and the words “Chrissa the looser llama girl”, Tara cuts off a girl named Gwen’s bangs and blames it on Chrissa and Tara even pushes Chrissa’s brother Tyler off the diving board at the pool! The mean bees do lots of other really mean things too! Chrissa has to find the courage to stand strong and stand up to the bullies. My favorite part in this movie is when Chrisa fantasises blowing Tara away with her hairdryer!

Those are all my favorite book to movies blog world! What are yours?

My favorite CD’s

Hey blog world! Whenever I go to the mall the 1st store I go to is always HMV so I can look for new CD’s! Today I’m gonna tell you about some of my most favorite ones!

“Shanneyganock A Newfoundland Tribute To The McNulty Family” by Shanneyganock . At 1st this CD wasn’t going to belong to me. You see my Dad had bought this for my Grandfather because he loves the McNulty family! Then Dad found out that my Aunt had bought it for him already. Oopsies! It had been laying around the house for quite some time because Dad hadn’t gotten the chance to return it. A couple weeks ago I was sleeping over at my Aunt’s house and along the way she played this CD for me in her car. I loved it so much that the next day I asked Dad if I could have the CD and he said yes! I was so happy! I play this CD to death in the car! I’ve memorized almost all the words to every song (accept “The Stack Of Barley” because that one’s an instrumental). I don’t really like Irish music but this CD is incredible! My favorite song on the CD is “Macnamara From Mayo” In my personal opinion I think that the McNulty’s themselves do a better job than Shanneyganock on this one!

“Spongebob’s Greatest Hits” by Spongebob Squarepants. This is a compilation of the best Spongebob songs ever! I still remember the day I bought this at Chapters. The whole way home me and my Neice were dancing in our seats and singing along! We still do whenever we play this CD! My favorite song on this CD is “Idiot Friends” (which by the way is from the special “Pest Of The West”)

“Snook’s Christmas (my gift someone else’s money)” by Snook . I drove my parents crazy with this one! I remember playing this CD year round! I didn’t care if Christmas was over I played it anyways! It’s so funny! My favorite song on this CD is “Bingo Balls”

“The Sound Of Music” by “The Sound Of Music”. This is the soundtrack to “The Sound Of Music”. It’s one of my favorite musicals ever (right next to “Hairspray” and “Annie”. The songs are all awesome! My favorite song on this CD is “I Have Confidence”

“I’m Loopy” by Buddy Wassisname and the Other Fellers  . These guys are hillarious! This is my favorite CD they’ve ever released! My favorite song on this CD is “Dear Mr Ford”

Those are all my favorite CD’s blog world! What are yours? Tell me in the comments!
