Special Celebrities

Hey blog world! There are lots of people all over the world who are “special” (if you know what I mean). Some of those people are celebs! A lot of those celebrities are really really cool! Some of my favorite special celebs are

Patrick McKenna

Patrick plays the role of Red’s very nerdy 17 year old nephew Harold Green on my absolute favorite TV show “The Red Green Show”! Not only that but he has ADD (Attention Defecit Disorder). I think that the ADD is quite the benefit for Patrick because it makes Harold’s character a lot more funny! In an adventure Harold was having with Walter (one of the lodge members) he saw a fly in a barn where he was learning to milk cows and because of the ADD Harold just couldn’t leave it alone. The fly flew down inside of an automatic milking machine and Harold looked down into it to see where the fly went and Walter turned the machine on and Harold’s nose got stuck in it LOL!  The video was unfortunately taken off of Youtube a little while ago but luckily I found another very funny video of Harold for you to enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErdId1wu380

Ty Pennington

Ty is the bullhorn holding, loudly screaming leader of the EMHE (Extreme Makeover Home Edition) design team. He and at least a million other volunteers demolish the homes of deserving families  and then build them a new one from scratch! Ty also has ADD and he says that building helps him to control it. I’m not sure but I think that it may be the cause for all the screaming (either that or he just likes being loud).

Howie Mandel

Howie is a very very very funny stand up comedian. Not only that but he also hosts the game show “Deal Or No Deal” and as you guys already know is a judge on “America’s Got Talent”. He also has OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Dissorder) and is a germaphobe (which means he doesn’t like germs at all). Dispite all that he’s really cool (and very funny)! I think the funniest thing about Howie is all the pranks he plays on Piers Morgan (especially the one where he was standing outside of Piers’s trailer with a bullhorn (much like Ty would do) telling people to be quiet because Piers is trying to sleep)!

Nikki Payne

Nikki is also a very very funny comedian. Nikki has a speech impediment (which means she spits when she uses words with S,C and K) and also as she said once in an interview she “swears like a trucker”. Her spitting is definately the best part! She even makes fun of it in her act “Don’t worry it’s like Seaworld! It’s good luck if you get splashed!” I recently got to see her perform and also meet her at the NL Screech Comedy Festival (which you can read about in the blog of the same name) and she is definately one of the nicest people ever! Check out this video of her performing at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiQCz2YXG3E.

Those are my favorite “special” celebrities! Who are yours blog world? Let me know in the comments!

Day Job

Hey blog world! Do you remember the posts “My Chosen Career” and “My Chosen Career Part 2”? Those posts are about what I want to be when I grow up. Although as of right now I’ve got a different job that I really really enjoy. My job is running my own charity! I call it the LMP (Leah McDonald Project). It’s basically a charity where every year I put out donation jars and collect pennies and recyclables for my absolute favorite charity! That charity is the Janeway children’s hospital here in Newfoundland! I spent loads and loads of time there when I was younger (in fact I still do) and I really wanted to give back to them so this is what I decided to do. My very 1st donation was $40 of my allowance, the next year it was $264.50 (in pennies),the following year (I can’t remember how much I raised), 2 years ago I raised $418,last year I can’t remember what I raised and this year I raised $200! It’s a lot of hard work getting the donations and rolling the pennies. In fact 5 years ago (I think that’s when it was at least) I injured myself! I decided to bring in my donation of $264.50 in pennies in a wagon and on the way into the Janeway I musn’t have been looking where I was going because I ran over my foot with one of the wagon wheels! It was quite painful to run myself over with a wagon full of $264.50 in pennies! One of the reasons that I like doing what I do is because I get to meet a different Newfoundland celebrity each year! I get to meet them because they interview me on the telethon! The very 1st year I donated I was interviewed by Andy Newman (one of the hosts of the morning show on Coast 101.1),the following year I was interviewed by someone from NTV  (although I can’t remember what her name is),the year after that I was interviewed by Claudette Barnes (one of the hosts of 590 VOCM’s good morning show),the year after that I was interviewed by Ryan Stodden (the weatherman on CBC’s “Here And Now”) and last year I was interviewed by Mark Critch (from “This Hour Has 22 Minutes”)! It’s a lot of fun to meet these people and be on TV! It also feels really really rewarding to do this because I know that all my pennies are gonna help a lot of sick kids get better. If you want more information on the Janeway please go to www.janewayfoundation.nf.ca. Also the Janeway Children’s Miracle Network telethon will be on CBC during the 1st weekend of June so be sure to look for me cause you know I’ll definately be there! What’s your favorite charity blog world? How do you help give back to them? Tell me in the comments!

Spongebob Educationalpants

Hey blog world! I was watching Spongebob yesterday and I realized something. It’s not quite every episode but there are several episodes of spongebob that are educational. Take “Ripped Pants” for example. Spongebob becomes someone he’s not by ripping his pants all the time so people will laugh at him and like him more. He ends up loosing Sandy his very best friend. This episode basically teaches people to be themselves. Also the episode “Everything That Glitters” is about Spongebob loosing his spatula in a terrible accident and him having to buy a new one. He sells everything he has (including his pinapple) to buy this awesome new chrome spatula that can do all sorts of stuff. He even continues to use it after his spatula leaves the hospital. In the end he realizes that he wants his old spatula back instead of his new one. This episode teaches that everything that glitters isn’t gold. Also the episode of Spongebob I was watching last night (I don’t know what it was called) was a new episode where Spongebob got stuck into his ringer (the thing he uses to ring himself out after baths) and Patrick tried to help him but accidentaly put “forever glue” all over Spongebob and the ringer therefore making him stuck forever. Spongebob has a very very crumy day and even ends up loosing Patrick as a friend. In the end Patrick gets sad because he realizes how much trouble he’s caused for Spongebob and he starts crying. The “Forever Glue” suddenly starts to get washed away by the tears. This episode teaches people that sometimes crying can help solve your problems. Even Spongebob’s books are educational. There’s 1 about dental hygene and 1 about not taking credit for stuff that’s not yours. I think it’s great that our little spongy friend uses a few of his episodes to teach us a life lesson! Who better to do so? What’s your favorite episode of Spongebob blog world (mine’s “Chocolate with nuts”)? Tell me in the comments!

My hero

Hey blog world! Everybody knows that superhero’s are men in tights fighting crime but there’s a new superhero in town who’s completely different and his name is Paradeacon. Paradeacon is half paramedic and half deacon. He works as a paramedic saving peoples lives and he works as a deacon in my church (All Saints Parish Hall) helping teach people about God. His real name is Sam Butler and to be totally honest he looks kinda like Santa LOL! The reason why Sam a.k.a Paradeacon is my hero is because he came to my rescue just last year. It was the middle of the summer and I was at lavrock camp (lavrock camp is an overnight christian summer camp). It was nighttime and I was in my cabin with my cabin mates and we were rehearsing for the camp talent show which was just moments away. We were gonna put on our PJ’s and sing and dance to “G.N.O (Girls Night Out)” by Miley Cyrus! I had left my book with the words to our song in it on one of the top bunk beds. I climbed up to get it and on the way down my left leg twisted a little to the side and I fell over. When I fell over I felt no pain so I thought I was fine but the girls in my wagon were looking kinda scared. I looked down and my kneecap had slid all the way over to the left side of my leg where it’s not supposed to be! I got so scared that I just screamed! While I screamed I must have hit my kneecap because it went right back into place and when it did I was in extreme pain! My cabin mates (or as they called themselves that night my “walker”) helped me to Boo Boo (our camp nurse)’s office. When we got there Boo Boo did all she could and then decided to get Sam to look at it since he was there on night security duty. He came in and took a look at my leg and told me that I was very brave to have popped it back in on my own. He gave me an ice pack and helped me to calm down and after taking a look at it he said I wouldn’t be able to climb anything (so stairs were a no no),run, jump or dance in the talent show. I was very very sad about that last one. Although I did manage to find an alternative to dancing so I could still perform in the show! I 1st of all showed off my kneecap and the wrap that Boo Boo had put on it to everyone at camp and then I played “Tomorrow” from “Annie” on the piano! I can’t remember exactly how long it took me but after I think probably week or so I was able to walk again! I’m very very happy that paradeacon was there to help me that night! Me and my knee are very very thankful. Do you have a hero bloggers? If you do tell me in the comments!

If life were a movie

Hey blog world! A little while ago at the school book fair I bought an activity book called “Totally Random”. It had all sorts of awesome activities in it! 1 of them was called movie madness. It was a activity where I gave 8 of my family members and friends a number from 1 to 8 and I picked out 8 different celebrities. Then I wrote the celeb names on a little circle thingy and counted clockwise to find out who would be played by who if my life were a movie. Most of it turned out great but some of it got a little strange. According to the book this is who would play who if my life were a movie. I’d be played by Julie Andrews , Dad would be played by Andy Griffith , my boyfriend Kyle would be played by Don Knotts , my best friend Courtney would be played by Betty White , my neice Samantha would be played by Dakota Fanning, (this is where it gets weird) my mom would be played by John Ritter, my grandpa would be played by Dave Thomas  and finally another weird result. My Uncle Gus would be played by Andrea Martin ! I think that those results are good but I think I have a bit of a better idea. If I had my life made into a movie this is who i’d pick to play my family and friends. I would be played by Sierra McCormick (Olive from “A.N.T Farm”)  ,My father would be played by Piers Morgan (although since Dad’s not British like Piers is Piers would have to try not use his accent during filming) ,my mom would be played by Joyce DeWitt,Kyle would be played by Jerry Lewis (because their both so funny),my best friend Courtney would be played by her favorite actres AnnaSophia Robb,my neice would be played by Mia Talrico (the little angel that plays Charlie in “Good Luck Charlie”),my grandpa would be played by Andy Griffith,my grandma would be played by Betty White and my uncle would be played by Larry The Cable Guy  ! Also if my pets were in the movie I’d cast Salem from “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” to play my black cat Spook and I’d get Melissa Joan Hart (Salems co star on “Sabrina The Teenage Witch (she played Sabrina))  to do her voice. I’d get the dog that played Shadow in the “Homeward Bound” movies to play my dog bear  (the reason why is because they look almost exactly alike). I’d get Gilbert Gottfried  to do his voice. That’s who the cast would be if my life were a movie! Who would play you and your family and friends if your life were made into a movie? Tell me in the comments!

Movie theater mix up

Hey blog world! How many of you enjoy going to the movies? I for one LOVE it! There was once however when things didn’t go quite right. Me and my BFFL Laura were hanging out together at the Bulldog gym one night at their freaky friday challenge. During some free time we had we were talking about the movie “Vampires Suck”. I told her that it looked like a great movie and she said that it did too. I asked her if maybe she’d like to go and see it with me that weekend. She said she’d like to but she’ll ask her parents 1st if it’s ok. The next day I got a phone call saying that it was! When Laura and I got to the theater we asked for our tickets and the lady said that it was a rated 14 A movie. Rated 14 A means that if your under the age of 14 unless your accompanied by an adult or legal guardian no movie for you. At the time I was 12 and I think that Laura was as well so that meant that we weren’t old enough to see this movie. I told the lady that dad had come with us to see it so then she let us in! We bought our snacks and then we stopped to show another employee our tickets so he’d let us into the theater and show us which one we were supposed to go to. He told me and dad to go to theater 13 and Laura to go to 15. We were all very very confused especially Laura. When she looked at her ticket she knew the exact reason why she had to go to 15 and not 13. The employee who was clearly completely unaware of the theater rules had given her a ticket for “Saw 3D”! “Saw 3D” was a rated R movie! She isn’t even supposed to be selling tickets for this movie to minors! This was outrageous! Giving my BFFL a ticket for a 3D rated R horror movie! I’m still quite shocked! Anyways we went back and told the lady what had happened and she took Laura’s ticket back and gave her one for “Vampires Suck” and we really enjoyed our movie! The big thing is though that if dad and I just assumed we all had tickets for the same movie and went by what Laura’s ticket said we would have had the fright of a lifetime! I can’t believe that that happened! What’s she gonna do next? Mistakingly give a  5 year old a ticket to “Shark Night 3D” instead of “Winnie The Pooh”? I hope that that employee is fired because like I said she wasn’t supposed to sell tickets to “Saw 3D” to minors and she did! Do you think that they should fire this employee because of what happened? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments! Bye for now blog world!

Piers Morgan moments

Hey blog world! Piers Morgan whom you may recognise from my posts about AGT does a whole lot of things behind the scenes of  AGT and BGT (which is Britain’s Got Talent). He’s attempted to beat the world record of most ferrero rochers eaten in a minute (which by the way is 7),had a beatboxing competition against a BGT contestant and he’s also attempted to prove that he has more talent then the acts themselves. Not only has he engaged in funny antics backstage but he’s had quite his share of funny (and embarrasing) moments on stage as well. I think the funniest one was when he publicaly humiliated himself on live TV by becoming the new lead guitarist of the air band air-o-smith! It was hillarious! Also he’s had a swordfight with Howie Mandel this past season on AGT (nobody won though). We even got to go to Piers’s funeral 😦 the song a contestant wrote for him was quite beautiful! Also Piers came very very close to killing a contestant during the wildcard show! Thankfully he didn’t though because if he did he probably would have lost his job. Remember the magician Landon Swank? That’s who he (and Sharon and Howie) almost killed. I’ve already explained what happened in my blog entitled Wildcard part 2 so please go read that blog if you wanna find out what happened. Also one of my least favorite Piers moments was one that I came across on youtube the other day. It was a clip of a little girl who I would say is about maybe 5 or 6 on BGT and she was dancing. Piers didn’t like it at all so he buzzed the poor little girl. When he did the girl was just so devistated that she started to cry and ran off stage. Thankfully Simon went backstage took her by the hand and brought her back in front of the judges. When he asked her what she had to say to Piers she stuck her tongue right out at him! It was very very mean of Piers to have done that but at least he got payback from the little girl! Check out these youtube video’s of all of these things that I mentioned!
